If you are a pilot and/or are looking for a watch that oozes masculinity, then look no further than the Citizen Skyhawk. This radio-controlled timepiece has a stainless steel case and bracelet, and measures world time in 43 different cities, the day of the week, and a countdown timer, among other features. Here are the pros and cons of buying this watch:
Pros
As stated earlier, this watch has many features outside of timekeeping (also known as complications in the watch industry). According to one reviewer on Amazon, “the watch sets and powers itself”, at least once you get it set up. According to another reviewer, this time on the website WatchUseek, the watch is comfortable, with an adjustable push-button deployment clasp that makes it “great for hot weather”. Both these reviewers were fans of the watch’s appearance (black dial with silver hands and orange accents).
Cons
According to the Amazon reviewer mentioned above, the numbers on the watch are very small and may be difficult to read for those with vision problems. Both the Amazon and WatchUSeek reviewers thought the watch’s complications were, well, relatively complicated to set up, and neither of them liked the mineral crystal, which tends to break more easily than a sapphire one. However, the two reviewers diverged regarding the radio-control feature; the Amazon reviewer liked it (since they claim to be a pilot), but the WatchUSeek reviewer claims that “you have to go to a place outside with no buildings in order for it to get a signal, and even when you find such a place, you have to wait at least 10 minutes for the watch to sync.”
Conclusion
The Citizen Skyhawk is an amazing-looking yet comfortable watch with various features, some which may be more difficult to set up than others. However, it is probably better to have it if you are a pilot, as the watch is radio-controlled, therefore making it difficult to sync or get a signal unless you’re outside in a place with no buildings (or if you’re hovering above them, in the case of a pilot). In addition, the numbers on the watch are very tiny, so it helps to have good vision or a magnifying glass if you choose to buy this watch. Finally, it’s not very good for rigorous outdoor sports and activities due to having a mineral crystal, which breaks far more easily than sapphire.
