The very first Reverso was handcrafted in the 1930s for British Army officers while they played polo in India. The watch has a reversible case, which is what it’s best known for, hence its name. It also features an Art Deco style, and was meant to be worn by both women and men. Every strap is handcrafted by the Casa Fagliano in Buenos Aires, Argentina; this family-owned company also designs leather polo boots.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to 1931 (The Watch Observer).
In the year 2011, Jaeger-LeCoultre came out with a thin version of the Reverso, the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin. It was popular at the time for similar watch companies to create slimmer versions of their watches, and Jaeger-LeCoultre was not an exception to this idea. One of the models in this line, called the Tribute to 1931, was designed with the same style as some of the earliest versions of the Reverso.
History of the Reverso in the Batman movies
Val Kilmer as Batman in the 1995 film Batman Forever.
Christian Bale is by far not the only Batman actor to wear a Reverso in the films; Val Kilmer, another actor who played this role in earlier movies, also wore this watch in these movies.

When the final movie in the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, had been released in 2012, Jaeger-LeCoultre came out with a special edition of the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 to capitalize on the movie, which came complete with the Batman logo.
Conclusion
With many watch companies, one tries to do their best to keep up with industry and pop culture trends without compromising the integrity of the brand too much. Watch companies also follow this ideal, particularly Jaeger-LeCoultre, which released their famous Reverso in the 1930s, when the Art Deco style was still at its peak in popularity. The company followed this pattern again in the year 2011, when many other watch companies were toning down their watches, and the following year, when the company made money off of their appearance The Dark Knight trilogy by creating a Batman-themed watch for both the movie and the public.
